What I Got For Christmas...

I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas with your loved ones and that Santa was good to each and every one of you.

I know every single beauty/fashion/lifestyle blogger will be doing this post in the coming days, but this time it's okay not to be original!

My "main present" was some money towards my lovely new 40 inch TV! No photos at the moment because the TV is in my flat in Belfast and I'm typing this from my parents house in Bangor! It is beautiful though, take my word for it!

In terms of "beauty" items, I got two perfume gift sets which were Michael Kors "Glam Jasmine" and Firetrap, both gorgeous. I got two Avon gel nail varnishes in red and pink, a black eyeliner, Urban Decay "Perversion" mascara, a leather make-up bag and the Urban Decay Vice 4 eyeshadow palette (see previous post for a full review!)

My "miscellaneous" presents were a heat compress (I heart back pain, not), a hot chocolate scented candle, an adult colouring book and pencils, Minions on DVD, hand cream, a fluffy keyring, Shonda Rhimes' book "Year of Yes" and a set of Betsy Johnson socks.

I also got this Minnie Mouse lego set. It took FOREVER to build because the pieces were tiny and the design was so intricate. I swear I am never taking it apart!

As usual, I got loads of sweets and chocolate. Especially excited about the huge jar of jelly beans (36 flavours man, it's like Harry Potter!)

I also got this cute sign for my flat and a scented lamp (I'm not quite sure how it works either but I'm excited to find out!)

Obviously this has just been a very brief overview so if anyone wants to know more about a specific item or product, leave a comment below or tweet me @MsMegan91 !

Urban Decay Vice 4 Palette - Review

I got some money for Christmas from my Grandad so naturally I headed straight for Debenhams. Urban Decay isn't my usual go-to brand but this absolute beauty caught my eye and I couldn't leave it in the shop.

As I don't own any of the other Vice palettes, I can't compare them so this is going to be a stand-alone review. If you've used any of them, let me know what you think by commenting below.

Oh my goodness where do I start?! As you can see, even the cardboard box it comes in is gorgeous.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to look like a web or shattered glass, either way it is truly beautiful. The case is made of plastic with a double-layer to give a 3-d effect to the iridescent web/glass. It's slim without being flimsy

It also comes with this travel bag which is an absolute Godsend as I spend a lot of time out and about and dragging my make-up everywhere with me. I would be devastated if any of my eyeshadows shattered. (RIP Naked 3)

Top Row - Bones, Grip, Deadbeat, Beat Down and Pandemonium

2nd Row - Framed, Fast-Ball, 1985, Underhand and Harlot
3rd Row - Discreet, Grasshopper, C-Note, Artic and Robbery
Bottom Row - Bitter, Flame, Low, Crowbar, Delete

There are 20 eyeshadows in total, 15 shimmers and 5 mattes/neutrals. The names of the shadows are clearly displayed underneath. All of the eyeshadows are exclusive to the Vice 4 palette, so you won't be able to buy them separately or find them in any other Urban Decay palettes.

The mirror is huge, so again, ideal for travel.

The palette comes with a purple double ended brush, one eyeshadow brush and one for blending. As with all Urban Decay brushes, the quality is excellent.

The palette cost £43.00, which is quite pricey compared to the make-up that I usually buy but as it's Christmas I decided to treat myself. I have a few products from Urban Decay and I've always found that quality DOES reflect the price you pay. And if you need further convincing, there's 20 shadows in the palette, which works out at 50p per shadow - not so bad now, right?

My favourite shadows in the palette are Bitter (matte, crease colour), Harlot (sparkly purple) and Flame (sparkly orange) . They are highly pigmented and easy to blend. Some of the shades do produce a bit of fallout but if you apply your eye make-up before your foundation etc, this can be sorted out.

I would describe it as a "going out" or "holiday" palette, perhaps not so much for day-to-day use.  Also, this palette probably isn't for you if you're not into shimmers or bright colours, but if they're your thing, this palette is the perfect investment. Like all the Vice palettes, it's limited edition so grab it while you can!

Winter Mini-Haul ft Pia Rossini

It's December, Winter is officially here. It's freezing, it's raining most of the time and of course, I have the world's worst cold. But what better way to make myself feel better than to buy some lovely new winter accessories to make sure that I beat the elements and stay warm(ish!).

This week I was lucky enough to visit Pia Rossini HQ and I got some lovely new bits and pieces for Winter!

The first thing I got was this beautiful beige pom pom hat. It's really cosy and I've found that beige really compliments my red hair AND it matches with nearly all of my clothes as well.

Pom pom hats seem to be really "in" at the moment (and for guys too!)

I actually ended up buying another one in a different colour as a Christmas present for a friend, but I can't say too much about that yet in case she's reading this

The next thing I got was these lovely deep purple gloves. I really love the little leather bow details with the fur around the wrists.

I know you can't see from the picture but the gloves are fur-lined which means they're really toasty and soft.

Everything I bought from Pia Rossini is really high quality and I've been very impressed.

I also got this long knitted scarf. It's ideal for those days where it's so cold that you don't want to go out....but you will purely because you have a nice scarf.

It's going to match with pretty much anything I wear so I can see it becoming a staple.

Also my mum pointed out that it's actually called a "Megan scarf"  so clearly it was meant to be and fate brought us together.

Finally I bought this multi-coloured wrap-around scarf. I picked this up partly because I loved the colours and partly because I can wear this in the office as an "indoor" scarf as well as an outdoor one. My office tends to end up like an igloo in the winter so having this to keep me toasty is a God-send.

Let me know what your favourite Winter accessories are by leaving a comment below or tweeting me @MsMegan91 !

Also - keeping checking back over the next few days - I'll be posting some of my favourite Winter lip colours, Winter playlists and loads more in the run-up to Christmas!
